Introducing the villain of this series! I played around with a bunch of different looks for him, including a typical big company CEO type or a more Silicon Valley tech bro appearance:
I wanted him to come across as charismatic, but also a bit pathetic. In the end, I think he ended up giving off a more scary cult leader vibe, but I think it fits.
Naming characters is always tricky, especially for Sci-fi. For this series, I played around with naming characters with very sci-fi-sounding names at first but it became very cliché, with lots of x’s and z’s and all that. I wanted to give a nod to where I’m from (🇳🇴) so I had the idea to give the characters and locations more Norse or Norwegian-sounding names. Maybe one day I’ll translate it into Norwegian…
Three things this week:
Heard a lot of people talking about The Bear. Ended up binging the first season. Loved the editing and the soundtrack - It got me listening to Wilco and Sufjan Stevens again all week…
Huge fan of Wong Kar-wai, I’ve seen Chungking Express and In the Mood for Love, so yesterday I watched Fallen Angels. I think what appeals to me about his movies is his ability to capture a specific feeling so well. I read that he doesn't create a finished script before shooting (poor producers 😰), Which makes the movies feel visually driven, similar to a graphic novel or comic book.
🍅 Tomato plant updates 🍅 It’s started flowering and I’m starting to see some (tiny) fruits!!
